I'm tired of my Logitech speakers, they're decent but I want something better for music. Best Buy has the M-Audio AV 40's which get great reviews for the price. I do watch some movies and listen to music with bass so I'd want to get a sub to go with them. The BX10S looks to be pretty nice but I can't find any real reviews on it. I'm thinking AV40 + the BX10S would be a sick setup for a pretty decent price. But maybe the sub will be overkill for a PC I don't know.

The AV40 really dont need a sub, unless you really want to crank and "feel" your sounds the AV40 is just fine as is.

hummm, maybe I need to hear the AV40s, I do like bass though, nothing like some good rumbling in a movie when craps exploding. BB does not have them on demo at my store. I suppose I could always buy them and if you're right you saved me $350 bucks but if I want more bass I could always add the sub later. thanks for pointing that out Oyeve.

The AV40s are rubbish compared to M-Audio's real studio monitors like the BX5As. Head over to Guitar Center, and have a listen to the real deal. Between the KRK RokIts, the BX5As, the Mackie HR824s and many other fine studio monitors, you're sure to find something you like.

I'm sure you're right Cheesehead, but for the price the AV40s are nice, and will sounds worlds better than my Logitech. I can pick up the AV40s for $150, the ROkIts are 2x as much and the Mackies look to be over 3x the price. Of course they'll sound better but that's too much to spend. I'm finding the BX5As for about $50 more on Froogle, which isn't too bad if they're really that much better. The others you mentioned are well out of the range I'm looking to spend. I will definitely look for some reviews of the BX5As though, thanks for the heads up :)

Why not just buy a dirt cheap sub - say, one of Parts Express 12" subs - and spend the money on better speakers?

It looks like you're willing to spend $500 between AV40s and BX10. You can get a sub for $150, and spend $350 on speakers.

Heck, if you're really broke, there are some Samsons on sale at ZZsounds for $180/pair.
