The Battlion is from ibuypower, it's strengths are it's cool yellow paint job and sleek design. It's down side is less warrenty, and costs more. Powernotebooks M 5:6 Force is cheaper and it has more warrenty and a DVD-RW drive. It's weakness is that it doesn't look as good.

They'd both have a 2Ghz Dothan chip, 1GB of PC2700 RAM (is Kingston worth it over buffalo or major brand for timings or speed?), and a 128MB 9700 card. Oh and of course a 60GB 7,200 RPM HDD. Th Battlion also has a 3 in one card reader and comes with a mouse. This is a hard choice, I really like the Battlions looks, but I know powernotebooks has better service.

Anyone have any experience? Also, ibuypower doesn't offer much warrenty, does this mean they expect their stuff to break soon? Anyone with experience?

Which battalion in specific are you talking about? The BAttalion E is baSed on the Aopen 1557. The 5:6 on the other hand is based on the Compal CL 56. For what it's worth, the BAttalion CL is also the identical computer ot the Power Notebooks 5:6. That said, go to talknotebook.com for furhter information as their are plenty of user reviews based on both ODM's.

Well, based on the reviews, it seems like both their build qualities are similar. They share the SXGA+ screen that just about every manufacturer has been using...great horizontal viewing angles...vertical viewing angles is pretty shoddy. The Aopen/Battalion E has a see through keyboard ala the Gateway M505X. As far as performance is concerned, just consider it the sum of their parts. They will be equal performers if you configure them similarly. Build quality has been reported to be good for both models. The Aopen book is "slightly" thinner...1.1" vs 1.3" of the 5:6.

All that information is found in notebook forums bud. The Battaltion Turbo E 101 is the EXACT same notebook as ANY Aopen 1557 review u see on that forum but for a Dothan and a 9700. As far as build, etc, etc...same sh1t. Ditto goes for the 5:6...there are users there that own other variants of the 5:6 but it's the EXACT same thing. Are you unable to find these reviews? There are pages upon pages of information over there...
