M.2 Chromebook question

I'm looking at possibly purchasing an HP 11 G5 Chromebook. It has an internal M.2 slot that evidently has a wifi module installed.
I was wondering, could I remove this and then install an M.2 SSD instead, and just use a tiny USB dongle for my wifi needs?

Other than saying that the M.2 slot has the wifi module installed, the manual doesn't mention anything else regarding it.
Is it possible that HP 'locked down' the M.2 slot so that it will only support wifi options, and not SSD?

Is there any way to tell, really, other than experimenting?
