Lynnfield I7 CPU and a 1155 MB?

Will a Lynnfield I7 CPU work on a ASUS P8P67 LE LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX? I'm using a MSI MS-7636 MB right now and it does not seem to verry fast at all. I have 4 GB of DDR3 1600.

nope - Lynnfield I7 is 1156 pins, the ASUS P8P67 motherboard is for SandyBridge/Ivy Bridge 1155 pin CPUs

You better get a P55/H55 motherboard. They are hard to find sometimes.But you can easily get a used one.

By the way I am a old i7 860 user.Really great processors if you are going to buy one

I feel the same way.... I fell into a great deal so I'm moving on to Haswell but the I7-860 is a great CPU to this day.

My wife is using an 860 on a Gigabyte P55 board, and it seemed a little sluggish. Of course, compared to my Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, and Haswell - all of which are using SSDs, it would be. So I put a SSD in her system and it made a HUGE difference. The old standard spindle HDD was very old and slow.

i7-860 can also be overclocked in a more traditional manner by changing the baseclock. Sandy/Ivy/Haswell all require a K series CPU to really overclock.
