I was just wondering if the 440LX chipset supported agp 2x or not because I can play any game in agp 1x but get consistent lockups when trying to use 2x. By the way I am using a Nvidia TNT(I know I need to upgrade)if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for the help.

It does support 2X but it doesnt supply enough power to AGP port.
For TNT2 and later Nvidia cards anyway.( AGP1X mode needs less power.)
Use non-Nvidia card or upgrade motherboard.

Well I am currenly running an LX based board with a tnt2ultra with no problems. It just depends on who made the mobo. If its one of the later ones it might work with the newer nvidia cards. I have also tried my Hercules GTS w 64mb of ram and it ran fine. Just my 2 cents

Yep, the motherboard quality really matters on those old LX motherboards. I had one with the same problem.

Later revisions of Asus P2L97s work fine. Asus had a deal going where they would fix your LX P2L97 mobo to work with the high-powered AGP cards.
