I guess I'll start at the beginning... does anyone know why usernames in lusrmgr would show up as a collection of characters rather then the actual name? Here's what I mean
Next, does anyone know why the following behaviour might occur?
I go into lusrmgr, and create a local group on our Win2k Server web server. Its called CONF-WEB Editors, and I'll be using it to give edit access for Frontpage directories. However, when I click on Create, it doesn't show up in the list of local groups. Only when I try to create another group by the same name do I get an error message saying that the name conflicts with another group. Then when I try and create another group, say "Blah", both it and CONF-WEB Editors show up in the list.
The same goes for users... When I add \Housing\test as a user, it wont show up in the list of users within that group. Then when I add \housing\test2 same deal. Then when I add \Housing\test3, all 3 show up, but the first two show up as random characters (as indicated in the image above).
This is really perplexing behaviour and I just can't understand it
