I work in a technical support call center and we have a group of people that just log problem tickets for us and some of them are real gems.

I've seen problems with scuzzy drives, cereal management ports, cell (actually SSL) problems, internal cd drives inside hard disks, etc.

Anyone else see similar things that just make you laugh?

so, instead of it being a spelling problem, it's a lack of technical knowledge problem?

your thread title is greatly misleading, I am disappoint.

:p

I cannot even count the number of times someone, while talking to me, or I have overheard, refer to the computer desktop as either a CPU or Hard Disk.

it's both I guess...

spelling serial as cereal or SCSI as scuzzy, and SSL as cell is not wrong spelling?

if you are not familiar with SCSI, and people pronounce it "scuzzy" every time the topic comes up, it's easy to spell it as pronounced. If you don't know what serial means and want to convey it in writing, cereal is an obvious mistake. SSL confuses a great number of people, and sounds like cell with a stutter when pronounced. :p

Outside of scuzzy, of which my firefox is telling me it is not a spelling mistake anyhow, they know how to spell... just, they don't know the technical vocabulary.

;)

Mostly, I was replying in jest and acting like a grammar nazi of sorts. This is a rare event, but I must say the air is mighty fresh up here.
