Lurker or poster by nature?

When you find a new forum about something you're into or getting into, do you lurk around for a while to see what people have to say? Or do you sign up and start posting right away and establish yourself?

I usually sign up for forums if I have to ask a question (ie, head-fi for headphone questions, avsforum for speaker questions), so I usually post right away.

I don't post often except for at ATOT though.

I'd say I'm a poster myself.

I've got a healthy 11k posts here, recently just hit my 1k at Fredmiranda, and I'm working my way to 500+ member at Head-Fi.

I started reading ATOT about 6 months before 9/11/2001. I remember when all the news websites were overloaded, I could get on ATOT and refresh the thread to keep up with the updates.

Depends. I'll respond to topics, but I read a lot of the stuff that's been posted. I think I lurked for about 2-3 months before joining this forum.

Really depends. It doesn't feel like I post a lot here, although I've got 5000 posts. There are other forums that I read just about as regularly that I have maybe a half dozen posts. I post all the time on my own but that's a bit different.
