Lupe Fiasco came to Hopkins for a concert this weekend, and cameras were prohibited. Luckily I managed to be the only person to get a press pass for the event. All photos were taken with a 5D and either a Sigma 50mm or a Canon 100mm L. Here are some preliminary edits from the concert:

Nice!! How do you like the Sigma 1.4 vs the Canon 1.4. I have the Canon 1.4. I really need a 5D.

In my opinion, nothing compares to a properly calibrated Sigma 50 save for maybe the 50L. The wide-open performance of this lens is amazing. I have had 2 copies of the Canon 50mm f/1.4 before, but to be honest neither copy even came close to the Sigma.

Below is an unsharpened 100% crop one of the images above.

Consider 3 things:

1) The image was taken at f/1.4
2) The subject's face is near the edge of the frame
3) The image was shot with a full-frame camera

With that in mind, I think you'll agree that the performance of this lens is simply astounding.
