Packaged cold cuts contain alot of preservatives though.

I mean you could eat cheap and so on, but you also have to keep health in mind.

Wow...

My food budget for 1 week is ~$100.

I eat 6-7 meals a day (for fitness). For lunch, I go out to eat with co-workers, which costs ~$6-8 on average. I spend about ~$50 in groceries.

Lunch shouldn't cost more than 2-2.5 but to buy it for 3 is outstanding cheapest I can find it for is $4-5 but I can bring my own sandwich and get hot homemade soup for 1.25

Yeah, I generally eat a lot for lunch, too. Well, more like a lot throughout the day. Back when I used to pack lunch for work, I'd generally bring two sandwiches, a smallish bowl of salad, and some type of "main course," such as a large bowl of beef stew. I'd usually eat the main course, a sandwich, and the salad for lunch, and then the second sandwich (and whatever else was left) for a snack before heading to the gym. I also would eat breakfast everyday, a decent-sized dinner when getting home from the gym, and then a snack a couple hours after that.

I love food.

Between my wife and I, we probably spend about $400 to $500 per month on groceries. She enjoys cooking and generally I get 4 to 5 home cooked meals a week. We always pack the left overs as lunch. As somebody who doesn't really like sandwiches (what's up with PB&J, I just don't understand it) this is a godsend as a comparable lunch is about $7 to $8 here and it burns an hour of time, which of course can be good or bad.

So for me lunch today consisted of:
Pork medallions with stewed apples
Corkscrew pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts
Cut up pears and oranges
2 x chocolate chip cookies
2 x fresh (last night) baked rolls
Bottle of water

I figure, over the course of a month, if I went out to lunch, it would be around $150 for lunch alone. Let me put it this way....in 2 months, that's an AMD X2 processor. Hence, why I upgrade so much! I earned it! :)

Of course, you have to find somebody who likes to cook dinner and likes to pack lunches the night before.
