Hearing, "Don't worry it's nothing to worry about" from your doc is much better than, "This wouldn't have been so serious 6 months ago."
Telling yourself nothing is wrong doesn't mean that there is nothing wrong.
My gf works in the lab of a hospital and sees this kind of stuff all the time. People wait so long to go see a doc that they let relatively small problems that could be taken care of pretty quickly turn into big problems that are much, much harder handle.
