854×480 is dog sh!t, no matter how long the bulb life is. My next projector will be 1024x768 native.

It's good if all you do with it is watch DVDs.

Wow, that is awesome. It should be put in Hot Deals. acemcmac, 854x480 is just fine. My brother just picked up an Optoma H31 projector with that resolution and has his computer, Xbox 360, GameCube, DVD player, and Playstation 2 connected to it - everything looks awesome.

Yeah. This would be a great match for a modded Xbox. I'm anxious to read some user reviews on it. $30 a bulb is awesome!

You're missing the point of this projector...6,000+ hour bulb that only costs $30 to replace.

True. Damn I wish I was born a couple years later, all the stuff I wasted time and money on in college (DIY projector, I was one of the dorks that made one, carputer, etc) is so accesible these days, now I just don't have the same level of interest.

Seems kind of expensive when these days most people would want 720p and dvi/hdmi. Inexpensive lamp is good though. How difficult is it to build this, assuming diy means there's some kind of major assembly?

instead of using their 7" LCD panel, use a different panel that has higher res, maybe?

Please explain why you'd need HDMI for 854×480 resolution projector. It's not HD and HDMI is completely pointless in a unit like this.
