Lumberjack bios hack (8pe667 ultra) to fix slow RAID?

Hi. I have a new system I built and all is well except for the fact that I got the 8pe667 ultra specifically for RAID 0 and when using the promise raid controller, the drives are slower than when I have the drives unstriped.. this is after testing several benchmarks. Why? I have no clue and apparently no one else does. I've tried new promise RAID drivers, messing with the drives, etc. to no avail.

One of the only solutions I found in my vast search of the internet was the lumberjack bios hack. The big question is, how do I use this and is this going to screw up my system? I'm nervous messing with my system's bios and am a newbie.. and the instructions for lumberjack are in German. Has anyone used this ever? I searched this forum and found no posts on it.

Or if anyone has any ideas for speeding up my raid array so I wouldn't have to use this, that'd be even better.
