This is a bit unorthodox but I haven't had much luck googling this topic. A friend of my mom's asked me for some preliminary research on the North American Lumber Industry, specifically how many mills there are and how much timber they process on average.
Right now he owns a company that makes machines to grade citrus, and was thinking about making machines to grade lumber. I know for the citrus industry there is a book called the Blue Book that has a listing of virtually every business in the Industry. Perhaps there is something like that for lumber? I found a Blue Book of Building and Construction, but is there anything specifically for the Lumber industry?
This is kinda of a last-ditch effort to get some information for him. I've also emailed GreenPeace and a few other such organizations. I mean I'm sure they keep damn good track of how many trees are cut down, etc.
If you could perhaps point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
