title pretty much says all.

this might be a good deal for those people (like myself) who like to buy big ticket items like this locally so you can do the try it out thing before you decide to keep it or not.

that way you dont have to worry about messing w/ the whole RMA/return shipping charges thing like you would with buying it on the net.

circuit city has a 15% restocking fee, trying stuff out is not advisable

the following taken from their web site:

" If something's not right or you've simply changed your mind, please return it within that time so we can either exchange it or give you your money back. Since computer technology changes so quickly, we can only offer a 14-day tryout on PCs and related merchandise. For a full refund of a Product, we'll need you to return the box and packaging too."

nothing in there about any restocking fees.

I love proving people wrong...........

Whats wrong with say....buy an OEM product on the net and swapping it for a retail item if it breaks later on? No need for RMA or anything. Since you giving them back the box, the retailer gets full credit. You don't have to deal with shipping charges or RMAs.

Aside from it being immoral and probably illegal, nothing. If resellers learn that you're doing it, they might start taking down serial numbers of their OEM products, if they don't already, so you can't do it.

Kramer: "It's a write off Jerry"
Jerry:"Who wrote it off?"
Kramer:"They"
Jerry:" Do you know what a write off is?"
Kramer:"....."

yea, oz, maybe you want to edit your post, or just link it to credit the idea to toade, altho i'm not sure if he came up w/ it, or got it off FW or vice versa.

i was thinking about leaving that comment after reading a similar thread on fw, but i guess i was toade was ahead of me ^^

and shame on freebee for that comment, but hey, if that's the way you choose to live your life, then 'you go boy!' way to live upto the plat membership :p

See here.

Too bad that price died yesterday. Hopefully MC will extend them since they've most likely made a mint on the WD drives and ATI card sales. I doubt it, though - they've already extended them once.

Thanks for the shout Jumbo. I was the original poster in FW too.

Unfortunately the PM deal is dead.
