There should have been more regulations imposed onto Vancouver by the international community. Canada is a society with a strong peasant-monarch bond. Those types of societies inherently view the value of the lives of the peasant caste as somewhat less worthy. Constructing a track with such recognized risks was reckless.

Canada has a fragile psychological state. What other risks did they undertake to compensate for their self-imposed deficiencies? How many more people will need to die to satisfy a country's insecurities?

Lack of snow. Dead athletes. What else is going to happen just to appease the rulers of the caste system?

Wow, that was...just weird. Someone clearly has an issue with Canucks...

This thread is showing more potential than appeared from its original topic.

FWIW, I think they're called "sliders", not "runners".

Not an expert on the sport, so any correction is welcome...

Most people should have issues with reckless disregard for human life.

Canada's national identity issues are dangerous. Sometimes it manifests in situations such as its insistence to protect Talisman Energy in its campaign of genocide in Sudan. This situation is obviously another manifestation (obviously on a smaller scale). They had to have the fastest, most dangerous track to compensate for self-identified deficiencies.

So it's only politically correct to hate America?

That's quite a straw man you built there. I don't recall either one of those posters posting anything that would lead me to believe they hate America or approve of the hypocrisy you're suggesting.

That is incredibly awful. I'd wager that by the way he hit that pole, he'd cracked all the vertebrae that made contact--and then some. His neck whipped so hard that the face shield flew off to the right.

Terrible. What sort of idiot designed this turn? No one should lose their life like this.

Not Canucks, but he hates them because they have a small connection to Europe.
Canoworms does hate him some Europeans. I actually find his post admirable in a way, for the reason you mentioned. He's so damned consistent in it.

Also, extra points for tying the death of a luge athlete into Canada's peasant caste system, that is just top shelf.

It sucks that it happened on the day of the Opening Ceremonies.

I look forward to the Olympics every time they come up. Not much prettier than watching the very best in the world doing what they do best.

It's awful that the poor guy died on a practice run. His family can't even say that he died competing in the sport he loved. Shameful.

Who the fuck cares?

Yeah, look at the bright side, now they can have some new footage to show for "thje agonoy of defeat".

Seriously, lots of people care, not to mention his family. Are you trying to be the biggest dickhead on the forums on purpose or are you really this callous? If so, seek help.

Sarcasm? Because for sure he died while competing in the sport he loved.

For what that is worth.

It's like when they said John Denver died in a plane accident. But it's OK, he really liked flying. :0
