Lucid Dreaming (Very Odd Unintentional Occurrences)

For about a year now I have been experiencing on and off very odd types of Lucid Dreaming.

What occurs is, I go to sleep and at some point in the night, I feel like I wake up. However I'm unable to open my eyes fully or to control my movements fully either. I can sort of see parts of my room and focus on various objects. Odd things begin to occur at this point, I often feel like I'm being painlessly crushed or my legs/arms are being bent. Sometimes I feel the sensation like hands are touching me all over or even tickling me. When I look around the room I quickly realize I'm still dreaming because a lot of the objects in the room look odd or there is something odd about the arrangement. I think on 1 or 2 occasions I have seen other people with me but it's very rare. When I look out the window when I occasionally get up, I see odd environments that are obviously not my backyard. Sometimes while trying to get up I begin to drift off the bed, everything looks kinda fuzzy but it's real time. Unlike a dream where you sort of only remember it once you have woken up, also everything a bit more clear and I have some control.

During all of this I sleep alone, I'm never frightened because I'm so used to it. Occasionally I also hear loud music but it's rare. The fact that I cannot force myself to end the episode is annoying and I'm often annoyed by the tickling or crushing sensation. Sometimes I wake up numerous times, however I still haven't woke up, which is always a weird experience. It's like a loop.

I was able to time it once because as I was falling asleep I looked at my alarm clock, anyways an episode felt like 5 or 6 minutes. When I looked at my watch after I woke up only about 1 or 2 minutes passed if not less.

One time while trying to wake myself up during one of these episodes I grabbed a bottle of water on a nightstand table next to my bed and tried to poor it on my face. Instead the water began floating and I saw the most insane looking effect.

Very rarely I have these dreams in other places of the house, like the washroom.

There is 2 types of ways I see everything occurring either in a slightly fuzzy regular human night vision. Or in a yellow laminated fov 120 (reference to quake, because the view is more panoramic then humans can actually see)

I don't really mind my experiences, however I wish I could control them better. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips in trying to control the situation?

I've only had that happen to me once. It was a weird sensation that I never wanted to feel again. It felt like something was on top of me. That caused me to wake up in my dream. I then woke up in real life. Really weird.

For me lucid dreaming comes and goes...the more regular my sleep schedule, the more commonly it happens. So I guess my advice is, vary your sleep schedule?
Note: Side effect may be tiredness during the day

I was under the impression a "Lucid Dream" was the term coined for one that you could "control". I could be wrong though. Doesn't sound like you have control of yours.

My lucid dreams are always unrealistic and far from home, such as realizing my consciousness and flying around the world while killing people. Never had the paralysis thing happen.

I've only experienced something like that a couple of times, and not nearly so elaborate. I did have some control over what happened, but the instant that I realized that it was a dream, the shock awoke me.

I had something weird happen yesterday or the day before...I had some rather sexual dream going on, but for some reason it frightened/worried me so much that I woke myself up about 4-5 times before I finally slept for the rest of the night. I don't remember what it was about, I just remember the very disturbing feeling I had...

I've had many lucid dreams before, but they were not that kind. They were in no way related to reality, but were in the same sort of false realities where I have normal dreams, only during the corse of the dream I noticed it wasn't real. At this point I could wake up be simply closing my eyes, and when I opened them they would open into the real world and not back into the fantasy world. Also, I would slowly start feeling more and more tired during the dream until I had to clsoe my eyes and wake back up into reality. So I basically raced around the fanasy world trying to doo cool stuff before I fell out of it. I also think its related to having a regualr sleep pattern. However on a different note when I widely vary my sleep pattern I have a different phenomenon where I lie down and before I go to sleep individual images which are very lifelike will flash in from on my eyes before I fall asleep.

Also on a third note, 90% of my dreams are in pretty much the same setting with the same goal, is this normal?

My mind doesn't approve of me controlling my dreams. If I try to change the script drastically, the movie gets cut short & fades to black. I would hear myself thinking for a bit, then a new movie starts. If I do something subtle, like talk to a character in my dreams, I can generally stay in it long enough to appreciate it.

Thinking very loudly seems to give awareness to the situation, though thinking too loudly just seems to interupt everything.

Thats sort of a textbook definition of lucid dreaming. It happens to me quite often, and I love it. You can do some much awesome crap. Like one time I stole every single boat and ski-doo at the marina by my camp. Fun times.

Actually I realized I named this thread bad, it's called sleep paralysis however it sometimes leads me to have a lucid dream, but that rarely happens. And I have some control during all this, but it's like I'm pinned down with glue and can't move correctly.

I totally have this too. Sometimes, as I lie there, I get constantly (like 1-2/sec) morphing faces...like MJ's "It's Black, It's White" video. But my faces are typically much, much more disturbing.

For the most part, they're what would otherwise be pretty damn scary looking, but for some reason I'm never really frightened by them and don't feel the need to try to stop them from coming. It's more of an annoyance really. I mean, where the hell does that come from???

One day you'll wake up and not have any muscular control, everyone will think you've gone into a coma. It will suck.

I have the same thing, like only a couple minutes within closing my eyes, my mind wanders, and all of a sudden I start thinking about something else, and consider the detail of the "thought" that flashed before my eyes only seconds ago. Kind of like a mini dream, that I can recall lots of detail from. Its maybe about a 30 second clip of a dream with just a random scene happening.

I get that too! It's crazy, right when I'm about to fall asleep they'll start fading into vision, VERY life-like images, usually of semi-motionless people. A lot of times there's a guy, who looks like that guy in the intros to Half-Life games, the skinny 5-o'clock-shadow guy. Other times I'll be in a very realistic 2-D environment, you know those screensavers that zoom in and pan images? It'll be like that. Very realistic, but not tangible. Only happens when I fall asleep in the dark.

I've never experienced the sleep paralysis thing, but I hope to one day, just to feel what it's like.

Wow, you get control over your dreams? That sounds like fun. My dreams are played out more like a movie with somtimes me seeing things through my eyes, somtimes me seeing things from a camera angle. Whenever i die or am seriously hurt in any dreams i wake up, like after a fall off of a pier in a recent one, i woke up. I had to jump off though! It was either that or let the really really fat angry person catch up with me, i had just stolen somthing real important from this building with a chick with me, and he wanted whatever it was i stole and i wasent gonna let him have it. Pretty weird.
