Yes, after rewritting all my childhood memories and the latest crappola, I think George has succeeded in what he planned to do. Thank you, George, now go to hell.

Director George Lucas wants to quit filmmaking to concentrate on more lucrative TV projects. The Star Wars creator says making movies is too risky nowadays, because the average cost of shooting and marketing a blockbuster is now $200 million, so he's steering his production company Lucasfilm towards TV and low-budget movies. Lucas also believes internet downloading is set to shake up the film industry, reports Empire magazine. He reveals, "We don't want to make movies, we're getting into television. The feature film thing is too expensive and it's too risky. For that same $200 million I can make 50 to 60 two-hour movies." He adds, "I don't think anyone's going to be in the (movie-going habit) anymore. Everything is going to be a matter of choice. I think that's going to be a huge revolution in the medium." However, Lucas isn't giving up his film career just yet - he's currently working on Red Tails, a low-budget film about America's first black military airmen, and the fourth Indiana Jones movie.

Why make new movies when you can re-release the crap you've already done over and over and over.....

You people fall for it every time. Why do you listen to anything he says. Especialy if its a decision he makes. He always changes his mind. I never beleive a final decision he makes. One day he will come back with a movie. It may not be Star Wars related, but he will be back in the movie business. mark my words.

Why all the hates? Because he is rich? How did he screw anyone?

As for movies over the internet, it could happen. Windows Media Center & ipod video (?).
Then there was that google thing.

He should have said, that he doesn't want to direct anything in media anymore.

Then I would be happy. He lost his edge. :(

Lucas never did anything but make lots of people happy using his talent and creativity.

The only people who would hate someone for that are people who don't have the talent or creativity to do what he did.

We have a lot of pissants on this board. Lucas has actually done quite a lot and has produced movies at times when stuff like he was doing was virtually nonexistant.
I hope he changes his mind since he's a hell of a visionary.

He hasn't done any orginal work since Raiders of the Lost Ark (for which I credit as Spielburg as much as him) and now he is going on about how movies are too risky/expensive to make and theatrical exhibition's days are numbered.

He hasn't taken a risk in a few decades while other great filmmakers are out there still at it while he re-re-re-releases Star Wars to film and video (more to come too with HD-DVD and digital 3D).

You don't need $200 million to make a hit movie. Hell, Lucas is in a position to make a good movie (even if it's risky) without having to worry about box-office results.

Take a page out of Quentin Tarantino's book, Lucas.
