I've had this movie sitting on my shelf for the past year and I finally watched it last night because we have spring break this week. Wow. That was pretty messed up. The "end boss" took 15 years to do this. That's some dedication!

Mini Review: I liked it. :)

It's a really weird/freaky movie.. I liked it, but it was more of a cerebral appreciation.

I enjoy its mix of cerebral plot, well filmed action (hammer fight), and dark humor.

Certainly beats the "8 Horrorfest Movies 2007" which are currently at Blockbusters. These Asian films, such as Oldboy, are awesome. You have to watch them yourself to see what this dude is talking about.

I did not expect anything until the end and then everything came together. Wow that's messed up. I liked this a bit better than Audition. Audition was pretty disturbing. I still get the chills everything I think of the guy in the bag. That bag guy kinda reminds me of Silent Hill 2.

The movie is based on the comic book, so I was interested in reading it. The movie is much much better. The reason for revenge in the comic is so stupid and anticlimactic.

Yeah that's a hell of a movie. The fight scenes are super badass... so much more so than a van damme flying kick fest. The camera work for them was great and interesting too.

Oldboy is still my favourite, but that is probably because I saw it first. I'd say Lady Vengeance was my second favourite, with the first one (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) coming in thrid. The first one is the only one of the trilogy that I have not watched multiple times; it just didn't grab me like the other two.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is number 1 in my book. Best emotional resonance and most moral ambiguity. Oldboy is number 2 as it is stylistically the best. Lady Vengeance is number 3 as I felt the pacing is off.

Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance are all awesome. My favorite Korean movie is Tai Guk Gi, but Oldboy is a pretty close second.
That said, I saw several mentions of Audition. I like Audition, and it was pretty disturbing, but it was not really one of my favorites. Of all of Takashi Miike's work, Ichi the killer is probably my favorite of his movies. Gozu is probably the wierdest I've seen. I liked quite a few of his other movies as well, though Izo and DOA 3 were kinda iffy.

I found Tai Guk Gi too melodramatic. For something related to the Korean war, I much more preferred JSA.

Thankfully, they did not include the part from the manga in the movie that would make me cringe. If you've ever read Ichi the Killer, it's at the end and you should know what I mean....

pseudo trilogy as they don't have common plot but all 3 touch on different aspects of revenge.
