The question is, what would an unused Haswell or Devil's Cayon cost in China. It is there where the market is.

4720HQ is BGA. Chinese folks are putting them on 1150 adapters.

Those CPUs are perfect for fanless operation.
But there are 4790T chips which would seem to outperform the 4720HQ for basically the same TDP.
It shouldn't be cheaper to buy a 4720HQ and solder it on an adapter, but evidently it is cheaper.
