As a owner, I would say go with a 540i manual with the sport package. It is fun to drive and plenty of room. The lexus is plane boring. PM me if you have any questions.

what lexus have you driven to base this opinion on?

ES 300, LS 400 and many toyotas ;)

then i'm not surprised...try a gs400/430, though not quite as fun to drive as a 540i with a manual...its in a different class than the es and ls

I have ridden is a gs several times. They are pretty nice. However, I thought we were talking about the LS 400 here.

The LS400 feels almost like the Cadillac of our generation. You know... not generally for younger people.

Out of those two, I'd have to go with the BMW. You're 27, not 72.

M5, used if need be - this car is simply *amazing*

About a year ago I took it for a test drive at the local BMW stealership. As soon as we got onto the highway and into the left-most lane, she told me to drop it into second/third and floor it. I did that when I was doing 60 and a second or two later the car started beeping. I asked her what that meant, she said I was doing 90mph when it started and was now close to 100mph

The clutch in the M5 is godly too, it works very well but is still comfortable for daily driving. Other than the Porsche 911's and maybe a few other cars, this has been by far my favorite car to drive. I'd definitely take a look at it before deciding.

This is correct. Value wise, the Lexus is a much better product. Are you really basing your next big depreciating expense on "lawerly status"?

gag

why not just get a 7 series beemr sporto...that way you and biff can jaunt to the polo store with mitsy and deb in the back and still have enough room for all those new clothes you will wear... dont forget the topsiders

Actually in the past three months the two partners in my firm have bought an A8 and an S4 convertible (both slightly used). The A8 owner traded in an ancient, rusty Range Rover, and the S4 guy traded in a 2003-ish Porsche Cayenne. The associates drive, let's see, a 2001 Maxima SE (me), a 2004 Accord V6, a 2004 Maxima, and a 2003-ish RAV4.

I'm 29 and a lawyer. I have a 99 Tahoe because I like the two door style and 99 was the last year they made it. I also have a 2000 Z28 Camaro Convertible. Image is important, but I don't want to come across as a rich snob. My clients love the Camaro, I'm always popping the hood, starting it up or dropping the top so they can look at it. It also depends where you practice. I have my own practice with one office in a York, PA and one office out in the country a little. The Camaro goes over well in this area. Pick a car based on what you like but take into consideration your type of clients and your location.
