oddly enough, it looks like it's more expensive than an LS400.

The LS says you're old and conservative.

A lot of the luxury brands are that way when it comes to the price differences between their midsize and full size models. The full size ones take a MASSIVE depreciation hit after three years. The midsize ones hold fairly steady. BMW 7 series get very close to the 5 series after a few years. The Mercedes Benz S class gets close to the E class. The Lexus LS gets close to the ES. The Audi A8 drops like a rock and is close to the high end A6 models. The full size boats just sink after their leases go up.

the 7 series is hawt (not so much the long wheelbase models, tho).

about the G35: too similar to the mustang, imho. lots of power, not the best interior (although the new mustang has the best interior it's had in a long time). only real difference is that the G35 takes premium and has 4 doors. and i don't like the nissan i have.

If you want to keep it value based, the Caddy CTS isn't a bad choice. I know several Financial Advisors that drive them. Back seat room is equal to the 5 series. Very well tuned suspension and great seats. Interior isn't on par with a Lexus or BMW, nor is it a prestige badge like them.

Takes regular old unleaded too, which is kind of nice.

As a owner, I would say go with a 540i manual with the sport package. It is fun to drive and plenty of room. The lexus is plain boring. PM me if you have any questions.

then i'm not surprised...try a gs400/430, though not quite as fun to drive as a 540i with a manual...its in a different class than the es and ls

My "lawyerly" car is a '96 Integra that hasn't been washed in several years. Why do you need a fancy car for lawyering?

Not trying to be a reverse-snob, I'm just honestly curious.

Both of those cars are bigger and fancier than what most lawyers in their 20s drive, FWIW. Most younger lawyers drive more mundane cars or, if they are making good money, something like a 3-series. Even if you work at a high-dollar firm, to some extent many clients don't like it if an associate is obviously wealthy.

Personally I think the LS400 is awfully big and old-mannish for a 27-YO lawyer (though it's a great car). I'd love a 540i, but God help you when it comes time to make your first out-of-warranty repair.

using this logic... g35 all the way, :)

thats what i did.
Infiniti and Acura seem to be the rage right now for young folks that are coming into money.

If you want something stately and slow like the Lexus, but cheaper to maintain than the BMW, the Lincoln LS is a good car.

Not to mention the Lincoln LS is an obvious rip off of the E39 looks wise.
