I keep running out of content to read on anandtech and dailytech and then eventually I'll break down and read another one of his ramblings. Why is this guy writing for anandtech?

His latest article is less useful than a forum post in the SFF forum. Not to mention the joke of an article he did on IPTV. "hey you guys I used netflix on my xbox! also I dunno if my brother in law is gonna be able to hook up the network stuffs!"

I know someone will say something along the lines of "don't read his articles then". The thing is, his bad articles dilute the quality and brand name of this site. He is not writing articles considering his audience which expects detailed technical information and quantitative analysis.

Wow...first post and it's to knock one of the columnists who actually contribute to the site?

<sniff-sniff> I smell a ban in the air...

It's always seemed to me that he does a lot of opinion-type or editorial-style pieces, maybe like Dvorak in the old print magazines, but he puts a lot more of the hands-on tech stuff.

It does give a kind of different take on things than just the "this is the new gizmo out today, this is the new tech in it, and here are the graphs showing how it performs relative to the other items in its category".

At least if it doesn't divert resources from the usual reviews, I don't really mind too much.

I haven't read any of his articles, except the one on anandtech front page about the "clarkdale" mini experiment; to be honest it was quite a refreshing piece... away from the "this is the latest from AMD / nvidia / Intel which will leapfrog each other in fps in Fry Cry 2, and instead it explores what's possible to make a tiny gaming rig. I am sure if I have looked further myself I probably would have known how to do it few months ago and call this archaic. But I am lazy, and haven't venture in the Hardware Forums for ages. I am lucky i still remember what a DDR2-800 is.

I like reading his stuff. I'm glad he's onboard.

Same, read several of his articles on another site and enjoyed them as well.

I know some of you will scream 'BENCHMARKS ??' whenever he builds something, or kvetch about his high end gear going into the teen daughter's PC (which whups your current rig handily) but a change of pace from the norm isn't a bad thing (and I hate change just for change's sake).

I also subscribe to a few PC magazines, and apparently that makes me a geezer around here with no sense of how media is distributed in today's world.
