Lowe's should have had more sense then to advertise on what could and did turn into a controversial show in the first place. I see religious bigotry in this forum every day, big deal. Is there some Constitutional Right not to be offended? I shopped at Lowe's last night and will go back again before Christmas, i'll let you guys know if I spot any Hollywood celebrities shopping there.
I saw no religious bigotry....sorry bigotry not found!!

Hey CraigIdiot234...the best friend I have ever had is Muslim. I have known him for 25 years and trust him more than anyone I have ever known. He has taught me all I need to know about Muslims. He actually referred to it as a bullshit propaganda show. Then again the things he says about Muslims I doubt your jaded one sided small brain could handle.

Basically, the way I see it, the business is forced to make a decision on an issue, and the only options are yes or no. If they choose "yes" one group boycotts them, if they choose "no" a different group boycotts them. The business has been placed in a no-win situation to no fault of its own. How does one stay neutral in today's America? And what do we do with these celebrities who seem more interested in the personal spotlight and personal publicity than they are about the issue?

Did I get that right? Lowes gave into the radical Christian groups' demands before the show aired? How could they know there was anything to object to in it? LOL!!

My friend was grand master of the KKK. Then he saw the show and said it inspired him to leave the KKK because he realized they were just people like everyone else. :hmm:

Lowes is well within its rights to pull advertising from a controversial show. The only big mistake they made was signing on to advertise during that show to begin with. Nothing wrong with reversing course when you realize that a mistake has been made.

I haven't seen the show, so I don't know about it's content, but from the promos it just looks like a propaganda show to try and remove the negative perception of muslims in America.

When I need supplies I'll still go to Lowes. There's one Lowes in town and two Home Despots, but the Despots are at the far north and south ends of town and the Lowes is in the middle of town just down the street from where I live. The convenience far outweighs any concerns about the faux-rage flavor of the month boycott.

1. Yes, their own statement why they pulled the money.

2. You don't care - then don't post. Don't even read my response which is not for you now.

3. Lowe's vs. Home Depot: I'm not going to defend the right-wing donating Home Depot. On balance I think they deserve a boycott more than Lowe's.

4. American Muslim "propaganda": you're an idiot. Telling the truth isn't propaganda - it's directly aimed at idiots like you who need some truth to contradict your lies.

5. You equated Muslims to Nazis. Idiot point #2.

6. As I said before, I think the case for boycotting Lowe's isn't too strong here. I disagree with them, but they backed the show in the first place, more than many would do.

If Home Depot is "right wing donating" then explain why right wing groups are up their ass over their support for gay/lesbian rights and marriage?

That's a good question. My information actually might be out of date. Their ownership has been right-wing - Bush pioneer, Koch Brothers partnering, anti-union, organizing support fir right-wing wing candidates around the country - one person said in the Norm Coleman-Al Franken election if you are a CEO and didn't send money to Norm Colemn, you should be shot, and more - but things have changed in recent years. I'm not sure how much financial gain the right-wing founders get from current profits, for example.

So the new CEO - following the previous one who left over compensation and was given a $210 million severance - has been an advocate for gay equal rights, to his credit.

I haven't followed it that closely to see about the changes. Maybe it's better now.

I'd have to ask though if the right-wing figures still own large amounts of stock such that the profits go to fund their right-wing activities.

I actually watched the first episode because I thought it was may have given some real insight and instead the show seemed like say yes to the dress or any of the other horrible wedding shows on TLC except Muslims are added in for flavor.

I think Lowes is dumb for pulling out but I am not ready to boycott them just yet.

It's a little like having advertising start to use black models in some ads.

Blacks rights groups will cheer that, saying it's about time to only have whites in ads, while racist groups will oppose it, calling it a 'black agenda', calling for boycotts.

It should not be controversial for Muslims to be viewed as 'normal people'.

It's also a bit like the controversies the first time tv shows had 'an openly gay character', 'an openly gay main chracter', etc. How *DARE* they pretend gays exist!

I'm for boycotting Lowe's for supporting reality TV. Any genre that made "Snookie" and those "Real Housewives" famous is evil to the core.

I think this is the real impetus behind the initial demand for them to stop supporting the show. Had they not stopped, I would be all for a boycott.

No more reality shows.

I have not plans of boycotting Lowe's. I may boycott the "celebrities" shows however.

Their mistake was caving to a conservative evangelical group. That's like caving to a schizophrenic homeless group.

This. The FFA were the only people really giving a rats ass enough about a show they had never ever seen to complain that Lowes pull their ads because it didn't paint American Muslims as terrorists. Pulling the ads opened them up to a much bigger shit storm. They should have just ran out the last 2 weeks of ads and been done with it.

Is there any evidence that Lowes was not considering pulling the advertising because the show has crappy ratings and the idiots in Florida were either the straw or simply at the right place at the wrong time? Either way I don't care. I like Lowes and hate Home Depot. I am still shopping there. Anyone who thinks "American Muslim" is anything but a propaganda show is rather naive. If the show was "American Nazi" everyone here would be singing the exact opposite tune.

Cool, I grew up in Dearborn, Michigan and can tell you after watching the show it is not propaganda. Your "muslim" friend is an idiot, too. Tell him to explain to you what parts are propaganda and get back to us. Small side fact, several of the people on the show are Christians btw. Not that it should matter, they look like their muslims neighbors so they get hated, too.

Most people that shop at Lowe's are contractors, handymen, guys that work on their homes on the weekend couldn't give a shit less about a reality show. In fact I shop at Lowe's every week for various tools, home improvement projects, etc.. and I had not heard of this stupid crap til today and I still don't give a crap.
