I am looking to buy a thermalright SP-97 w/ vantec tornado for my athlon2500+
But the noise i know will kill me.
It's either settling for a panaflo or get this tornado but find a way to lower the noise...
So how can I lower the speed/noise on this thing?
Also what size should i get 92mm or 80mm? For specs 92mm has the better airflow, but lower RPM. But it still looks better than the 80mm, but more people are buying the 80mm it seems...

you can, but then the noise/cfm ratio would suck, and you will be much better off buying a quiet fan

I lowered one down to 5v and it was barable... however, as people have said, you would be better off just geting a quieter fan... the Vantec stelth line are very good (if you don't put the volt mod cable on), and are still good and quiet.

I have two tornado fans that I don't want (wasn't thinking and ordered two), if anyone wishes to purchase off of me for cheap ($10 CND, +Shipping each) they are yours. junk - at - reidclan.com

yea, i've found that speed controller + normal cheapie led fans sound as quiet as stealth vantecs anyways. stealths are rather pricy for what you do get.
