Lowering The LCD Resolution

can i reduce the resolution of 1920x1080 lcd to 1680x1050 (for games). what would be the effect on picture quality and other things.

if you you don't scale the image, it will play nice and crisp in the middle of the monitor with a black border. If you scale the image full screen it will be less sharp and slightly pixilated but still look fairly good. All depends at how sensitive you are to aliasing and what not
