Lowering fan speed on ATI 9600 Pro?

I just installed my new ATI 9600 Pro, but I would really like to quiet the fan noise. Is there any program out there to get of this annoying hum?

Also, is there a passive cooler that might work, short of the big Zalman 80A?

You could 7v mod the fan on it. Theres no software that`ll do it for you.

You could connect the GPU fan to a mobo header, and use Speedfan to vary the rpm of the fan.

The noise is really that loud? You sure yours isn't defective somehow? Maybe call ATi to see what they can do.

I know Sapphire will offer a 9600P with a smaller Zalman HSF (see B3D's 9600P review), so you might be able to buy that for less that the bigger one.
