Lower the multiplier with L6(or L6,L3 and L4)

I have a T-bird "b-type" running default at 850MHz and a MSI K7T turbo-r.And the problem is: I would like to lower the default multiplier to 7 and run it with a 133FSB(7*133=933), do i have to change the L3,L4 and L6 or is it enough to just modify the L6 and run it default at 933MHz(7*133).

From the article:Thunderbird 850
Connect the bridge corresponding to multiplier adders 1/2 and 1, which will bring the multiplier down to 7. This should allow you to boot at 933MHz (7 x 133MHz), which should work in most cases if the voltage has also been boosted to 1.85V.

This seem easy enough, but i this the best soloution?? Or should I modify the L3 and L4 bridges also??

That is exactly what I need to know, also (regarding my Duron900 and the MSI K7T Turbo).

I posted on exactly the same topic http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=28&threadid=474098 and it hasn't received one reply, yet.

I penciled my L1s with success, but cannot POST when penciling the L6 to a lower ID.

so...i second your question:

<< do i have to change the L3,L4 and L6 or is it enough to just modify the L6 and run it default... >>

edit: i swear, someone needs to start a forum for overclocking just the K7T Turbo!!!

it depends on the motherboard
on an iwill kk266 you can just change the L6 and it will initialize long enough for the bios settings to kick in.

an epox 8kta3 usually wont post if you just change the L6

after closing L1...why is it neccessary to even touch any of the other bridges? cant you just change the multiplier and FSB in bios?

I concur with that question have msi k7t turbo with duron 800 want to underclock multiplier to 7.5 or 7.0 to get 133 MHZ FSB. Tried to update bios to get lower multipliers in cmos, however still starts at 8.0. Anyone have answers?:p

yes, indeed, i have read that article, already.

they don't touch the L3/4 bridges, and imply that just modifying your L6 bridge will enable you to boot at a higher fsb...

<< Athlon 800: Once again, the L3 and L4 Bridges are left untouched >>

I did try this, both lowering my cpu from 9 to 7 and 5. Neither time would the machine POST.

That would indicate that either the anandtech article is incorrect (it does seem to contradict Tomshardware's story on the same issue) or perhaps I have a bad CPU...though it hums along quite nicely at 1020 right now.

None of this explains why we can't get our durons to POST at a lower CPU id.
