lower score in 3dmark03

before I was running on this system: ath. xp 2100, 768 mb@2700, bfg 6800gt. Now I upgraded a little, 768@3200 in dual channel, mobile barton oc'd to 2.2ghz, and a 6800gt. Before I was hitting 11,300 now Im hitting 10,600. aa and af are both turned off. Maybe its spyware?

Are the timings the same...were the pc2700 sticks running cas 2 and now the pc3200 is running cas 3???

Also remember that ther e will not be a big difference going to pc3200 ram with an xp 2100....It only has a fsb of 266 which means a max memory throughput of 2.1mb/s... pc2700 is 2.7 and pc3200 is 3.2mb/s of bandwidth. You are likely running the memory asynch with dividers and the real world performance on amd systems in this situation is neglible casue the memory is producing more theoretical bandwidth then the cpu can actually use....

Edit: I see you ran it in 03 and the scores are not that bad.....The slight drop could be also related to driver changes and method of install. I am just saying you should not have expected much move at all but should have not really dropped...make sure like I said above that the cas timings have not changed much...

ya, the memory on the xp2100 was in cas 2. Now it is overclocked with the mobile2500(200x11), and its cas 3. Only backgroung programs running was open office(ms word) firefox,avast antivurs, and spysweeper.

Actually I totally screwed that up... I see you have a 400fsb chip now so the match to the memory is correct...It is the cas timings...

I have an A64 at 2.6ghz with a BFG 6800 OC at 392/850 and I get 11400 in 03 and that is with 520ish ddr....


Bandwidth should make a difference if the cas timings were similar....I saw a good leap going from 460ish ddr to 520ish ddr..both were at same cas 2.5 settings....

If my 6800Nu had activated all the pipes I should have seen a 1000 pt increase over mine now...A GT on my system probably would score closer to 14000....It is basically you cpu is bottlenecking your overall score...

05 is a better gpu dependent app....Yours should score 4500-5000 there...

A true performance of the vid card wil be 05....01 and 03 just give bigger numbers, and some like that....Howvere they will really punish you for lower cpus....
