Hi,

My daughter bought a G4 Mac to use in her wedding video business. The software that came with it is inadequate. Final Cut is $1000. Some suggested getting Virtual PC and running Vegas Video 3 on it. Other's said the performance would suck under Virtual PC.

Anyone know of any video processing software somewhat comparable to Final Cut without the outragious cost?

Thanks.

yes, running video editing software under virtual pc is a bad idea. itll be horridly slow especially when rendering. why is iMovie inadequet? its a pretty good piece of software. would you be more specific as to what shes trying to do with the video?

Your only other option on a Mac is Premiere. But Premiere has a pretty steep learning curve and, in most editors opinions (including mine), it sucks @ss compared to FCP.. And if this is for her business why not invest in Final Cut Pro 3? FCP is easily the best editing software short of AVID and it's only a grand. It takes money to make money, and I guess I don't see why your daughter wants to short change herself and her business.

Agreed. It's a capital expenditure and thus deductible. She could muddle thru the first couple of projects with iMovie to earn the cash for FCP. What does she want to do that can't be done with simpler SW?
