lower banners make this forum load pretty slowly

I'm using the labs at school and the computers are a little slow, P233 or something but on a network. Anyhow, it's slow to load a thread because of the banners (bottom ones). This is how painful it is for me.

sometimes it stalls connecting to the banner's site and it takes forever to load. I dunno if it's just me but it kills slower computers, even on a LAN. I can't scroll the thread until it finishes loading either, i sit here waiting for it to finish, sometimes netscape just flat out crashes. Oh well... anybody know what i'm talking about?

also, i just tried loading up a 50+ thread and it loads a lot from anandtech... i get "waiting for reply from anandtech.com blah blah" ... netscape shows that it's load x% of 300kb-500kb (a million times). Isn't a thread just a bunch of text? why does it load so much? curious
