hello everyone:) here's my issue, a couple months ago i upgraded my rig from a 2600 XP-M, Epox NF2 Ultra, all my other hardware stayed the same(HD,Mem,Vid card) to A64 3200 Newcastle 3200/DFI Nf3 250gb.
i've been running some 3d mark 03,05 bench marks, my 03 score improved, but 05 score went down. from 5124 on my old setup to 4700+ on my new one. the highest i scored so far is 4807, but i can't reach 5000 anymore. the drivers i'm using now are 81.94, i also tried reverting to the old drivers 76.45 that i used to get my 5000+ score. does anyone might have any ideas why my 03 scores would improve, but 05 scores would go down? oh before i forget heres a comparison bewteen my systems:

OLD
xp-m 2600 (213x12) 2550mhz
epox nf2 ultra
2x512 corsair xms 213mhz (2-2-2-10)
6800nu 16/6vp 395/870
3D mark 05 score=5124

NEW
a64 3200 newcastle (255x10) 2550mhz
dfi nf3 250gb
2x512 corsair xms 255mhz (3-3-3-10)
6800nu 16/6vp 395/870
35 mark 05 score=4800+

thanks for any input.

:( i wish i could score that high with my 6800nu... i can not even break 4k with my ULi chip :( my nf3 chip gives me around 4k even.

Anyway...
this looks like a driver issue or a bios issue.

Did you reformat when you install in hardware?
Did you make sure you have agp set to 8x, fastwrites on, agp aperture set to 128/256.

You know what is werid you said you 3dmark03 score went up but you 3dmark05 score went down. That is so werid, when i got my Uli chip it did the same thing, i would think this is because 03 is more cpu limited and a 3200-a64 at 2.55 will be faster than a 2.55 axp. This makes sense right.

Why 05 drops i have not clue if you did what i said above. If you fix the issue please respond back as i would love to get my 05 back to :(. I have a bigger difference than you though. It is like 400-500 instead of 300pnts and i went from a 2.3a64 to a 2.7a64 lol

I used to get 2400 in 3Dmark2005 i changed motherboards and i now get 5500
^__^ weee i tried everything with no luck .. replacing hardware fixed it though... i have nod idea why your's is lower. Reformat and try again .. use the drivers from www.nvidia.com and not from your MB CD rom!

For the NU's you want fastwrites to be off.

thanks for the replies, it is kinda wierd that on score would go up, and the other would go down. i have tried different drivers(77.77, 79.11, 81.94,and 76.45) the 76.45 is what i got my 5124 with, and i used drivercleaner with each install.

as for the agp aperture i have it set at 128, but i tried 256 if to see if it would make a difference, and it did, i scored even lower:(, i think 4600 something. fastwrites is always off, i get BSOD or lockups if i enable it.

this issue is really not a big deal to me, cause my over all gaming preformance has improved since going to A64, but it's one those things that make me say "hmmm"

I had the same problem. Went from an NF7-S v2.0 with a barton 2500 unlocked at 3200 to a A64 3400 with a KV8 Pro and my benchmarks dropped. My CPU score went up, however. But i'm at a point in my life where benchmarks are meaningless. If a comp can run the games I want to play with ease, i'm happy.

lol; same here, but i guess it just baffles me that faster system should score better than a slower one. i even tried different chipset drivers, but the same results.

Also 3D Mark is a seriously a picky beast from computer to computer...i mean consider that I score 8200+ in 05 and 17100+ in 03 with my setup whereas other people with faster or similar setups get lower scores go figure....

Also did u make sure you have AA and AF turn off all that good stuff

i thought about that to, but for some reason my DFI is picky about dividers, 1:1 is usually best for me when comes to stability. oh, i did try 230x11, with my memory at 230mhz(2-3-3-10) pretty much the same score.

Did you install your motherboard drivers (NFORCE 3 drivers) and your AMD processor driver?

yes, i did install my chipset driver (v5.10), but i also tried 6.14 and 6.37. all those drivers gave me pretty much the same results. amd processor drivers??? i didn't know that had one.

just for kicks i ran my 3dmark05, at 400/870, i was getting some artifacts, but only scored 4824 i think that might be the highest score i've had since switching to NF3 and A64. i just don't get it??? i would post some links to my scores, but it seems futuremark has been down all day long, i can't seem to access their site.

With the processor driver and my chipset drivers my 3dMock scores went up quite a bit. It's worth a shot.

I had almost the same experiance as you did a while back-Nf2 to opty on Nf3-everything else the same but my 3D MARK 05 scores dropped BIG time! Luckily a forum member here told me to uninstall and re-install all of my drivers(chipset, lan, video, etc.) and Boom- it worked-3D Mark 05 right back where it should be for my AGP6600GT.

thanks to everyone for their suggestions and input on my little issue with 3Dmark05, i just home from work not too long ago and ran a couple of benchs, same story (4600-4800 scores) i tried differnet settings:

1:1 memory ratio on all
(230x11) 2530mhz
2-3-3-10 1t timings
4700+ score

(210x11) 2310mhz
2-2-2-10 1t
around same score

(240x11) 2640mhz
2.5.3-3-10
4800+

i tried bdoople's suggestion and downloaded the AMD drivers, (AMD Athlon? 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2 -)
pretty much the same results.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4198452
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4004384

those are my 05 and 03 scores, new and old setup. well anyways like i said before this issue is not a big deal to me, and thanks again to everyone who helped out. i can deal with 4800+ for now, cause hopefully it will be up 8000+ when i get my 7800gtx in a couple of weeks:D
