Low write speed on IDE RAID controller

I have Integrated IDE RAID controller (KK 266 R, AMI Mega RAID IDE 100) on my mobo, which I am using just as another IDE Channel. What ever drive on put on the RAID it gives me a cached write speed of 5mb/sec. I am very frustrated. Can someone help me on this?
