Ok I got on the deal for the x2 3800 Toledo from Newegg recently and have it overclocked to 2.5 @ 1.4v on Asrock 939 Dual SATA mobo with Artic Freezer 64 HS. At first it was running at 33-34 idle and now has been running around low 40s C. I removed HS and the artic silver had pushed its way to the very ends of the processor with the middle main part being fairly dry and almost looking cracked like dry earth during a hot summer. I removed the AS5 and reapplied even less than before and it is running around 34 idle right now for the moment.

What gives?

Since most of the heat is at the middle (probably from cores)... Your AS5 dried out faster there than the rest of the cpu...

It just meant you needed to reapply it :)..

He said he got it recently. If you're saying that AS5 dries up and you have to reapply it all the time, I would never want to use that stuff then. That would be such a pain in the butt.
