Low suds laundry detergents.

I am looking for a low suds laundry detergent.

Any recommendations?

(I have a standpipe/siphoning problem that just isn't quite bad enough to mess with. A low suds detergent should do the trick.)

that stuff they sell at Sam's Club/Costco in the giant plastic can doesn't make much suds, and its cheap

You might want to try HE. It is mean't for front loading washers. Tide makes a good one.
I thought about that....but I read HE is designed specifically for the new tech front load washers (tumble action). I have a traditional top loading one (agitator action). And supposedly the detergent breaks down differently and will not keep loosened dirt seperate from clean clothes during the wash.
did you google the question?
google is your friend
Of course...but with no luck. The only thing I stumbled across was that Cheer generates the most suds of any detergent. I know ERA generates a lot too because that is what I was using.

I guess I'm just going to have to cycle through different brands till I find one.
I will start with Tide.

I'd probably still try it. I have a Fisher Paykel top loader that I use it in, clothes are 10 times cleaner than from my old GE

Ok. I'll pick up a bottle (or box?) of Tide HE tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

I use Bi-O-Kleen Laundry powder in my front loader. I do a ton of laundry (have two kids and live out in the country), like at least 7 big loads a week, and a 10 lb box (not very large) lasts me 6 months. It's low suds, you don't have to buy it very often, you use a very small amount so it doesn't take up much space, and does a good job. Runs maybe 10-12 bucks a box. I buy it at New Seasons or Fred Meyer.
