Low Scores, why? 2.54Ghz @ 3.06 using only 1.28volts! COOL AND QUIET!

I wanted a quiet system so i wanted to use the lowest voltage I can and still achieve decent overclock:

19x160 = 3ghz
33mhz PCI
HIGH strap
CPU:RAM 4:5 --> 160:200
Vcore: 1.325 (1.28 actual)
1.7volts on the RAM

ram settings: 2-5-2-2 PC3700 Buffalo BH-7 chips
What other settings do I have to worry about? These are my benches:

MEMORY Bandwidth
INT BUFFERED 2980MB/s FLOAT BUFFERED 2983MB/s
CPU Arithmetic:
Dhrystone ALU 7926MIPS
Wheatsone FPS/iSSE2 - 1751/3920
CPU Multi-Media Bench: 12102 and 15418

These scores are low aren't they? What am I doing wrong?

Please help. -- I bought this oc'ed rig from someone that was running it at 3.5ghz. I just lowered the settings a bit. Did I miss anything? Or did I set something up wrong?

Thank you.

David

Why on earth are you running the RAM at 200 Mhz? That stuff is rated at 216... and we all know how much P4's perfer memory bandwidth over memory latency.

So to run it over 200mhz I have to run at HIGHer speeds?

Sorry i'm still a newbie, my last rig was a p2-300mhz sl2w8 running at 558mhz :)

Can someone please explain how they are getting like 270fsb on the ram?

I'm trying to run the system as quiet as possible, hence as quiet as possible.

What temperature should I start backing down?

and what are the exact bios configs I should use to maximize my system AND ACHIEVE quietness :)

does LOW/HIGH strapping make a difference other than the ram divider?

Thanks
David

increase the ram voltage, increase the memory latencies... the most effective numbers are the first and last... so for instance, in a 2-2-2-5 module, you can make it run at a higher speed if you change the latencies to 2.5-3-3-7.

Try running the ram at 2:3 cpu:ram... that would be ddr 480... you might have to relax the latencies though... you should have some smoking sandra bw scores after that.

how can I get 2:3 divider?

I can set my CPU on low strap to get 3:4 and HIGH strap to get 4:5.

Thanks

Oh yeah, and if it helps I have an ABIT IT7-MAX2 version 2 with the latest bios.

Thanks

I used to have an IT7 max VERSION 1 and there was a "DR. Natural BIOS" for it which had some nice features, is there a smiliar bios hack for the it7max2?

Thanks

Wow, Still no reply? :( I saw so many people on this forums, and you guys seem very experience too. Is my quesiton really that complicated?

I would really appriciate some help, PLEASE :)

Just think back at the days when you started overclocking and didn't understand something, wouldn't you have loved to get some quick help?

Thanks

Pretty please :)

I just need a few quick pointers, like how to get the extra divider, and how to make my benches go high.

Thanks

OH yeah, and what's this I hear about people running DUAL channels for the ram?

Can I do that too?
What are the advantages/Disadvantages?

Thanks

The memroy scores look fine to me and the cpu may be a hair low but make sure you are not connected to interent when you are running it...scores a little lower usually....Low score could be sign of undervolting....Have you stress tested this properly to knwo it is stable at that very low vcore???

Yep, it's been running PRIME 95 for 3 days straight.

However when I multitask while prime'ing.. It's EXTREMELY slow, is that normal? -- this happens even at stock voltage :(

What do people mean when they say "prime for two instances?"

Thanks

What ram are you running?. Download that overclockers bios fro the IT7 Max2 V2 over at overclockers. I had the same board. You can set 66/33 agp/pci lock with that bios.

heh, I'm not too interested in selling it right now as my CPU combo is runing well.

It however doesn't have any other dividers other than 3:4 and 4:5.

So i'm pretty much stuck for now.

I'm going to try to download the overclocker's bios. Thanks
