Low RPM for Antec TRUE430

I just purchased and installed the TRUE430 in my system and I notice that the RPM doesn't exceed 950. It ususally hovers around 890-920 RPM. When the CPU is at 100% load, the PSU fan will increase to 950 RPM. The antec website states that the minimum RPM should be 1500 for this PSU. Anybody have any idea if my PSU is defective or is this normal?

If you're having stability problems, start worrying. If it's cool, enjoy the silence...
What I mean is, if you're not having problems, don't worry!
The PSU got two fans, maybe you're refering to the wrong one?
I got the same PSU, but I'm not monitoring. It's silend though.

My temp for the CPU at idle is 43C and goes 55C at 100% load. I have the zalman cnps7000a-cu using ac5 on a P4 3.0C with an ABIT IC7-G. I have a lian li 6077b that has 1 fan over the hard drives, 1 rear, and 1 blow hole. Originally I had the fans connected to the Antec using their dedicated fan line and my idle was 50C and full load was 65C. Even when my system temp reaches 40C, the antec continues to barely blow any hot (and the air that comes out is VERY HOT) air out. I like the fact that the antec is quiet, but shouldn't the fans on the PS try to keep itself cool?

Uhm, good point. You're right, the PSU should try to do that. You could be right and that particular PSU could not be tuned right. What are the chances?
Do you want to go through the trouble of finding out and probably gaining nothing?
Are your casefans spinning at 7 volts? Are they papst? Save the ears is my motto.
As long as it's stable, it's stable.

That sounds low, I'd contact out tech guys just to be sure 1-800-222-6832.

Beyond that the temp sensor in the PSU is inside the PSU housing, and once it reads 40C it'll really crank up the RPM (that doesn't necessarily match 40C in the system).

I still suggest calling in though.

Like he said, it has 2 fans and if you want to see what the other one is doing you need to plug it into a mobo fan header. I did and the fan underneath gets as high as 1900rpm's under full load.

UPDATE: I returned the item and got a replacement. The PSU is now spinning at 1500 RPM.

BTW, 2 tech reps I spoke with informed me that the Antec website was inaccurate with the RPM specs for the TRUE430. They said it could spin below 900 RPM and that at full load may spin between 900-1000 RPM. The 1500 RPM spec on the website was in reference to a full 430 watt load. BUT they added that the low RPM reading was most likely inaccurate and that my motherboard was to blame. I didn't want to argue with them that their explanation appeared to make no sense at all and just thanked them for their time. FYI, if you have an antec and it's spinning below 1500 RPM, exchange it! Don't call tech support because they'll only tell you that the PSU is running according to specifications.

I would hate to end this on a sour note so I have to give some props to the Customer Service Center. The only reason I exchanged the PSU was because the CUSTOMER SERVICE rep told me I probably had a bad PSU and to exchange it ASAP. I'm glad I listened to that guy.
