Last Friday I reinstalled Windows XP SP2 on a P4 1.8Ghz and put Rosetta@Home on it. The only software installed is Windows XP SP2 will all the latest patches, and Rosetta@Home. For some reason, its only scoring 50 points per day. Thats up from the 25 points per day it was getting on the weekend. In contrast, I have a P4 1.7Ghz thats getting 125 points per day.
This past Saturday (Nov 25th) I installed Rosetta@Home on my Macbook Pro O(Core2Duo 2.33Ghz, 2gigs ram) to see how fast it would go. It started getting 25 points per day, and is now up to 100points per day. It should be getting more then 600 points per day.. closer to 650. My Pentium D 920 (2.8Ghz Dual Core) is getting 520 points per day.
Any suggestions as to what might be the issue? Both are not running the screen saver, and the windows machine is actually running the program when no one is logged in, so its getting as much CPU time as I can give it.
