Low resolution gaming question.

Is it mostly dependent on the CPU? Games will be run on 1440x900. Would a Phenom II cut it for the next few years paired with a gtx295?

Probably be fine. Whether it is CPU or GPU dependent will depend on the game. The latest/greatest shooters are usually very GPU dependent, however a fast enough CPU is required to keep the GPU fed.

OP, you seem to come up with the craziest threads. is that a Phenom 2 X4 or X2? even a Phenom 2 X4 would limit that much gpu power a bit at such a low res. an X2 will probably just crap itself in some cases trying to deal with additional overhead from SLI at that low res.

All of these "low resolution" gaming threads are all for friends. They all don't have space/money for a larger monitor. It's a Phenom II x4 oc'ed to 4.0ghz.

Had a gtx295,a stock clocked q6600 used to bottleneck it,then i oced the cpu to 3ghzs.

Then i jumped on the i7 bandwagon with a i7 940,and saw just all the bottleneck removed.

Saw this playing UT3🙂

there might have been a bottleneck there but certainly not a playable one for UT3. I could run that game perfectly smooth with just one core of my E8500.
