Low res 17 inch LCD tolerable for gaming?

i'm in a position where i can get some pretty nice prices on lcd's from a friend of mine and so getting a 17 inch lcd isnt much of a price strech over the 15 inch lcd's for me

i'm leaning towards the 15 inch, but i would love teh area of a 17 incher, but i'm a gamer

and i'm pretty sure my video card will not be able to handle 3d games in high res (1280xblahblah) once teh next games start getting pumped out and was wondering if running a 17 inch lcd is ok in 800x600 mode or maybe even 1024x768? or should i just give up and get the 15 inch which isnt so bad i guess even though i'm used to 1152 on a 17 inch round crt

anyone?

I had to put my 21" back on my desk because my 17" lcd didnt cut it for games.

I have seen people say to look for the response time. If its less then 30ms then they do fairly well. Mine is like 43ms. It sucks in games too

I used the nec lcd 1830 and 1850, they're like the cheapest 18" flats... I have such a headache playing cs and it's not bright enough.. all the tunnels are too dark.

Just try it out on your fav game before purchasing.. i'm switching back to non-lcd till the technology gets better... btw, where in the spec are the response time.. i find a lot doesn't have that info..
