Low rates on an auto loan

What's a good and legitimate place to apply for a car loan? I'm working towards my PhD and last time I checked (in August) I have a 740 in my credit scores. No major loans, mostly just credit cards.

This is the time of year when numerous automobile companies offer 0% interest financing. Listen to the commercials or get a Sunday paper to check.

I found the lowest rate at my credit union, though the other local credit union had terrible rates, so YMMV based on what unions you are eligible to join. I got 5.5% on a used car loan.

Yeah but usually those are offered on crap models that nobody wants to buy.

many dealers now have as good or better financing than banks, etc

if you don't care what car you get, then see what dealer will give you 0% financing

That's pretty much the situation here.

I'm shopping between a Mercury Milan and a Toyota Camry Hybrid.
