Low profile? What's that?

When you sau it's a low profile heatsink (eg:Taisol CEK747092), what does that mean? Is it good thing or bad thing..? Is it about size or performance?
 
low profile means it's shorter... to more easily fit in a tight space say if your using a slotket... low profile anything in general means more space conserving/slimmed down from an original version... in the case of heatsinks, this would probably cause a slight hit in performance unless the LP versions are re-engineered...
