Low Profile GFX Card Help

Hi guys,

First off let me say that I was hardly even aware that these low profile cards even existed. I ended up buying a HTPC, low profile case.

I can play games pretty well on the system now, but am looking to possibly upgrade my gfx card.

The cpu is a q8440 core 2 quad, 8 gb ocz reaper. The current card I have in the rig now is a zotac 1gb ddr geforce gt 520. It is a DX11 card but is zotac just value stuff?

Should I spring for something like the Radeon 6750? According the some websites the 6750 is much better than a gt 520, but my zotac box gives me somewhat better specs.

Anyways, any thoughts on the matter? What card should I get? I'm not looking to get the best of the best, just seeing there's something worthwhile out there.

Always appreciated,

Regards

FWIW, this is the page I was referring to when looking for these cards: http://www.squidoo.com/best-low-profile-video-graphics-cards-for-gaming-2011-pci-express

there are some low profile HD 6850 if I'm not mistaken and its the most powerful low profile card you can get.

Which power supply do you have in your system and how many amps(A) are on the +12V supply?

Also, how much do you want to spend?

I'm not positive what brand it is atm of posting this but I believe it is just a 300watt psu. As far as the amps go I'm not sure, will have to look.

This was one thing that I was noticing, is that generally most of these cards are looking for 400w+. I've been thinking about changing cases to get rid of the low profile stuff but I'm leaning towards just purchasing a card and calling it a day.

I've been debating switching cases but I'm kind of getting used to the small form factor. :awe:

I don't really want to spend more than $125-$150 or so. I'm thinking maybe the HIS Radeon 6670? Looks like a solid card. Thank you for the responses.

With a 300w supply you could get a 5770/5750 low profile card if you could find one for under 150.

Or you could wait for a low profile 7750/7770 if they ever make one, otherwise a sapphire (what I have) or HIS 6670 would be your best bet.
