Here's the basic setup:
1. Windows 98SE machine.
1. Windows 2000 SP3
Each PC has a 10/100MB NIC, connected via a 10MB HUB. Both NICs are Autosensing, and have only TCP/IP as communication protocol.
The Windows 2000 machine has IP 192.168.0.1 with DHCP and ICS. The W98 gets a IP from the 2k via DHCP (ICS requires it, something like 192.168.0.203).
Internet Connection Sharing works flawlessly, and every user in the 98 computer is an active user (Administrator, with no restrictions whtsoever) in the 2k box.
My problem is that file copying performance is somewhat... weird? When copying FROM the 2k machine TO the 98 machine, the speed is normal. BUT, when transfering FROM 98 TO 2k, is as slow as hell.... and I mean slow. Try 10 minutes or so for 2MB of data.
I don't know waht can be wrong... I can't be the cable, nor de HUB, nor the NICs... the speed is correct one way. Should this be the problem, both speeds would be wrong... right?
I've applied a reg fix that improves browsing of 98 computers in the LAN, this worked just fine, but it did not improve file copy performance.
I've tried with a crossover (PC to PC, no HUB) cable, the same happened.
Need help, FAST.
Thanks a lot.
