I've got a 2002 Dodge Stratus (not the best, I know)

Anyways, as of recently, every time I'm Idling at a light, the Low pressure light comes on. This does not happen until the revs reach the lowest point in idling, which is about 600. When I press the gas pedal the tiniest bit to rev it up maybe a few hundred revs, the light goes away.

My Oil was low, on the min level, so I put almost a quart in, and now it says it's full, but the problem keeps happening.

It's been over 3 months since my last oil change and probably about 2500 miles, so I am changing the oil very soon. Is there some other sort of sensor that might be malfunctioning? I just don't want the engine to cease for any reason but I haven't noticed anything irregular and I don't think it will cease because it's full of oil.

Thanks for any help!

There is a TSB for dodge/Chrysler 2.7's. It may not apply to your particular car but It looks like their are major issues with the 2.7 oil system. Check out TSB 08-36-99. It's won't matter if you have a sump full of oil if the oil pump isn't operating properly. If you can, have someone remove the oil pressure switch and install a mechanical gauge to check for actual pressure. From there you can determine your next step.

If the sender is ok change brand of oil ,or go with a little heavier oil ,also check the idle rpm spec on the car maybe it is to low

The oil pressure sensors on those cars are common to fail.
It will have a bit of oil in the socket if its bad..I would just change it and go from there

Replace the oil switch/sending unit. It is usually cheap.

If the lkight keeps coming on then don't drive it until you fix it.

My first car did the same thing. The oil pressure would go low on idle. I thought it was just a bad switch and/or the gauge not reading right. Well it ate a main bearing and started to knock. When I pulled the motor and removed the oil pan the oil pick up tube just fell out. So that was what happened there.
