Low-Noise 7600 GT and 7900 GT

Are the eVGA 7600/7900 GT KO Superclocked line of video cards fairly low-noise out of the retail box? I'm trying to piece together this information from reviews but it's not so easy. But it appears they are significantly quieter than other makes of this model video card, except for passive, of course. Part of what's making it confusing is there seems to be a eVGA 7900 GT CO Superclocked (CO for copper in the cooler) which is fairly loud. Any help clarifying would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For the most part all 76/7900GTs are based off of the reference design. So basically, they are ALL loud.

One thing I can recommend is to put a Zalman VF900CU on. I literally cannot here mine.

I have an MSI 7600GT and it's fairly quiet due to a big-ass cooler, but I have lower standards than many for quietness so I'm not sure how you'd rate it.

You can use Rivatuner to throttle down the fan. Mine is set to 20% if temperature is below 62 degrees Celsius.

I'm getting a VF-900 as well. But the CO is just a lower ended version of their cards. Here's something that may help. In order of least to most powerful. 7900GT->7900GT CO->7900GT KO->7900GT KO Superclocked->7900GT KO Superclocked Sgnature Series.

Wait, isn't that backwords? 7900GT KO SCS> 7900GT KO SC> 7900GT KO> 7900GT CO> 7900GT

Thats the way it should be. I think you put the >'s backward.

Just curious. Is 5v on a vf700 enough to run an overclocked 7900gt? I can test, but I was curious if anyone knew the average difference in temp between 5v and 12v. 5v is quite a bit quieter...

i doubt it, as a knee jerk reaction.

Hmm, how many slots does the Zalman VF900CU on a 7900GT takes up? One or two?
