I just got my 8K7A installed and ran Sisoft to test my memory scores. I got 251 MB/s on the Int ACU/Ram and 250 on the Float FPU/Ram. My scores were WAY higher than this on the Iwill KA266 board and on my old Asus CUSL2 board. I am using 256 MB DDR PC2100, 1 Ghz Athlon. It shows my memory performance as being much lower than any of the other comparable system.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could check to improve this? What drivers should I have installed for the MB? I installed the AMD Miniport Driver and the Via IDE PCI Busmaster driver. Should I install the Via 4in1 drivers? Would it make any difference on my memory scores? What about a BIOS flash?

Thanks for any help.

yes, install the 4in1. But 250 is way too low for DDR, or anything else for that matter.

Maybe you should takeout your RAM, and reseat it again. also play around with BIOS settings on Bios caching, videoram caching, etc.

I case you have a USB modem, take it out. It's dramatically lowering Sandra scores. And anyway, Sandra is full of bugs and not very reliable. Try to verify the results with another benchmark, such as MEM Tach.

I don't have a USB modem, but I am using a USB Netgear Network Adapter. I'll try another memory test and see what happens.

I got the same results with the Mem Tach benchmark. However, I unplugged my USB Netgear Network Adapter and my scores shot up to above 600 in Mem Tach and Sandra. So, it looks like that was the problem. The question now: Is there a workaround? I need my USB Network adapters.

Get the via 4 in 1 drivers and install the inf portion ONLY. Also look on netgear's website for updated drivers for your ethernet card. Let us know how it goes.
