Low-latency RAM worth the premium for the gamer?

I'm going to be RMA'ing the half-gig of Corsair low-latency I currently have. In the meantime, I'm going to have to replace it with something else. I was going to buy another half-gig of XMS low-latency, but I'm not convinced the performance gain is worth the premium. I have ZERO intentions of overclocking.

I'm a gamer; what do you recommend?

I personally feel if you aren't overclocking, then save your money. Put the saved money into a faster CPU, video card, or even more memory and you'll see much bigger performance boosts than low latency memory.

Any premium must be compared to that of other components. A higher performance VPU or CPU is going to be overwhelmingly more significant. Heck, 1GB RAM is more important than low-latency 512MB. LL is only significantly beneficial for overclocking anyway.

I'm either going to pick up 1GB of Crucial or perhaps Corsair XMS C2, as opposed to the LL stuff. Whaddyathink?

5fps is a big deal...

...if we're talking about Halo...

I replaced my Corsair PC3200C2 stuff with Corsair PC3200 LL and found it to be a waste of money.... I would have rather spent the extra money on something that would have had a more significant impact for the money spent....
