Low latency my......

i just don't understand how corsair and others can market their memory as "low latency" or "enhanced latency" with timings of 3-4-4-8

basically it's like the lowest possible timings have become the standard and now cl 3 is the happening speed

hmmm... i guess 2.5-4-4-7 is low latency at 4200 compared to 3-4-4-8 at the same speed, thats why they try to market it like that. In comparison to other speeds, its not impressive to say the least. But what do you expect them to market it as Ultra High Latency Memory (3-4-4-8), High Latency Memory (2.5-4-4-7) and Ultra Low latency (2-2-2-5)?

the first 2 just dont sound nice lol

btw fix your 3dmark2k3 link ...

I too do not like that. The Corsair XMS PC4000 is "low latency" at CAS3 4-4-8. I dont know anyone who would call that low latency.

Most of the new memory really stinks IMO. It has high "speed" ratings like PC 4200, but the latency makes it no faster (usually slower) than the PC 3200 ram we used to buy. I'm glad istill have old XMS 3200 that runs perfectly @ 2-2-2. no need to "upgrade" to the new slow stuff.

Judging from Tom's and Ace's reviews, timings make little to no difference with the A64 so it's a non-issue for me. Timings didn't even translate to perceptable gaming or DC improvements for my nF2 boxen though synthetic benchies made you think it would

P4 appears to benefit from it the most so P4 owners should definitely take heed.
