Low-heat system. Superclock noticeably hotter than vanilla?

I'm looking to build a lower-power, lower-heat system than what I currently have. I'm stuck on the video card right now. I'd like to get a 4GB EVGA GTX 670, but the only one available is the Superclock model (04G-P4-2673-KR). They do show a 4GB model with vanilla clocks (04G-P4-2671-KR), but it hasn't been available at all.

So my question is, does the Superclock model run noticeably hotter than the model with vanilla clocks?

I realize I can get a Superclock model and install software to downclock it, but I'd rather not have to install additional software just to do that.

The overclock isn't high enough to significantly affect GPU temps, although I'm surprised you're concerned about heat if you're getting the 4GB model. You'd only need that much memory if you're running a huge resolution, in which case you'll want every bit of performance you can get, including what's on tap from overclocking.

I'm running three 1920x1080 monitors and one 1920x1200. My only concern was whether the Superclock is going to create noticeably more heat than the vanilla card.

So, it won't?

Well if you're going for low heat/power, is it safe to assume you're also going for low noise? If that's the case, you'll want to look at a different card. The reference 670 cooler is loud and unpleasant sounding.

I may be reading Anandtech's GTX670 review incorrectly, but it looks like the vanilla EVGA GTX670 is a better overclocker than the EVGA GTX670 Superclocked. Is that right (not that I plan on overclocking, just found this interesting)?

Silicon lottery, but my EVGA 680 (plain) happened to clock better than my EVGA 680SC by about 30Mhz as well.

One of my former vanilla cards was much better than my FTW, one was slightly worse.
